Eclipse

Okay we could see the total lunar eclipse last night here in Melbourne. I put the camera on the tripod and in the darkness tried to adjust all the camera settings to get some good shots. I am more familiar with my camera than I was a week ago, but not yet to the point when I remember how to change all the settings by rote and to the touch. So the results are not brilliant, barely adequate I would say. But at least I got to record the blood moon and I am closer to know how to do it properly next time.

Fitzroy Colour

Saturday afternoon found us in Fitzroy again, savouring a late lunch, shopping and trying to look at old things in new ways.

City of Melbourne

I never tire of walking around Melbourne City and admiring what a beautiful city it is that I live in. Its mixture of nature and building converging above and below makes me smile as I walk around. The camera continues to prove itself worthy.

Around home

Autumn never ceases to amaze me with its natural beauty. The soft light and rusty colours decorate the neighbourhood and it is just simply a pleasure to walk around and look at everything. The simplicity, repetitiveness on natural cycles makes for one certain, not to be missed, photographic outing. Couldn't live in a place where autumn is not a season.

Photo challenge: getting the moon right.

Warburton

Being on school holidays couldn't be more fitting to play around with my new camera. We took a 1:15 hrs. drive to Warburton, a town located 72 km east of Melbourne in the Yarra Ranges, to explore with camera in hand. The picturesque town is framed amongst the surrounding hills and the Yarra river meandering through beautiful walking paths and picnic areas. We enjoyed an afternoon of bush walk and photographic scenery. Just after 4:30 we left the wilderness behind to come into town for some coffee and cake and found it, to our disappointment, almost dead. Everything closed  except for 2 cafes. The coffee tasted like it came our of an International Roast tin and it only came in take away cups. Thumbs down to your cafe culture Warburton, although your beauty almost makes up for it.
